Don Wallace is senior editor at HONOLULU Magazine. He has been a top magazine editor at The New York Times, Conde Nast, Hearst, and Time Inc., and is the author of four books. Born in Long Beach, Calif., he married local girl, surfer and writer, Mindy Pennybacker; they lived in New York City for 27 years before returning home. He has published in Harper’s, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Hana Hou!, The Honolulu Weekly, Redbook, SELF, Parents and other outlets. His books are a memoir, The French House (2014), novels Hot Water (1991) and A Tide in Time (2015), and One Great Game: Two Teams, Two Dreams, in the First Ever High School National Championship Football Game (2003). A graduate of UC Santa Cruz with an MFA from the Iowa Writers Workshop, he has taught at The New School and Pace University.
